NATIONAL DEFENSE & FOREIGN POLICY
Our role and reputation as the indispensable nation has been weakened by the actions of this administration. We are less safe than we were four years ago and are closer to the prospects of nuclear war, acts of terrorism, and global conflict than ever before. We must reform the way we defend our country while also improve our standing in the world. Where we were once looked to for guidance, we are now sometimes excluded from the conversation. We need to approach our standing in the world by better investing in our military and increasing our investment in our diplomacy. Former Secretary of Defense James Mattis once famously said that the less we invest in our State Department the more we have to invest in weapons. Diplomacy and defense work together, and when we are strong in both, we are stronger in the world.
MY PRIORITIES:
Support efforts to restore the capabilities of the State Department
Invest in the State Department’s ability to make sure the U.S. interests are represented in any situation across the globe
Invest in the Defense Department’s ability to keep up with emerging and next generation technologies
Revisit current capabilities and upgrade them to respond to the requirements of today and tomorrow
Support joint defense and diplomatic exercises so we can lead our partners across the world in military readiness and diplomatic success
Establish joint intelligence centers to foster cooperation and excellence in our intelligence and law enforcement agencies
Stop supporting dictatorships and support regimes that reflect our goals and values
Hold the federal government accountable for requests tied to the National Security Strategy
Stay true to our word and just as we expect our allies to support us, make sure that our allies know that we will support them in fighting for democracy, security, and prosperity
